The Challenge
Elkay wanted to create a manufacturing showplace at its 220,000 sq. ft. Broadview facility, which had not been updated since the 1960’s. However, logistically Elkay could not completely shut down the production lines to accomplish the beautification project.

The industrial painting project needed to be scheduled in phases, during off-hours. Scheduling considerations for each phase of the industrial painting project included production plans, productivity schedules, and Elkay’s weekend availability.

The Solution
AAA Painting Contractors worked with Elkay to schedule work during off hours so Elkay could maintain productivity during the project. The collaborative efforts of both professional staffs allowed AAA to complete the project over a 12 week period, working every weekend and a few evenings and holidays.

AAA cleaned and painted 220,000 sq. ft. of Elkay’s ceilings and walls, as well as 25,000 linear feet of piping. The industrial painting project was completed using over 7,200 man hours of labor throughout the 12 weeks, without disturbing production.

Approximately 5,300 gallons of paint were used for the ceiling and walls, 75 gallons of red paint coated the piping, and 485 rolls of visqueen (equivalent to 775,000 square feet of plastic) were used to cover the floor and equipment.

The Result
The final result is a long lasting testimony of AAA Painting Contractor’s capabilities given difficult logistics. AAA’s flexibility in scheduling and availability of experienced industrial painting crews helped Elkay achieve their desired result—a true manufacturing showplace.

Since AAA sprayed the ceilings, floors and piping, Elkay has been able to:

     •Increase the amount of light reflection in the plant.
